Increase Drought And
Wildfire Resiliency

For two decades, I have brought together environmentalists, the timber industry, firefighters, and community leaders. We've forged collaborative agreements that delivered healthier and more resilient forests, enhanced fish and wildlife habitats, created jobs, and, most importantly, helped protect us from devastating wildfires.

Our community has made good progress making agriculture more efficient to stretch limited water supplies further. But we can do even more to advance irrigation modernization to support our rivers and farms. We also need to address rapidly declining groundwater levels in the Deschutes Basin.

In my second term I’ll support efforts to make our homes more resilient to wildfire by creating defensible space and using the most fire resistant building materials for new construction. And I’ll encourage water conservation in our homes and businesses to halt or reverse the decline of our groundwater levels while continuing to support agricultural efficiency to help our rivers and farms.

Together we can make our community more resilient to the growing challenges posed by drought and wildfires.
